How do we live a life that feels Holy and Whole? Unity churches give us the tools, but are we “walking our talk”?
Fred Mahaffey “walks his talk”. Gifted in so many ways, Fred’s greatest gift is how he shares his heart so openly and purely. Fred will be our guest for Holy Week at Unity in Chicago on Wednesday night, April 1st (no fooling) sharing the Lord’s prayer in Aramaic. We will talk about the meaning of the prayer in its original form and Fred’s experience of it.
For fifteen years, Fred has called Unity in Chicago his spiritual home where he is active in many aspects of church life. His path to Unity was like that of many people: full of interesting twists and turns, with a dead end or two, and some lovely surprises just over the hill. Fred worked for many years as an occupational therapist for a major urban teaching hospital. His career focused on supporting and facilitating change for persons diagnosed with persistent and serious mental illness. Now retired, Fred offers gratitude daily for the gifts of choice and freedom. Creative energy has always expressed in Fred. These days he finds great joy in a multitude of activities including artistic endeavors, canning homemade jams and chutneys, and working on a book of meditations inspired by Charles Filmore’s Twelve Powers. He shares his life and home with his husband of twelve years, Brian Fallon, and a very active Abyssinian cat named Keely.
Let 2015’s Holy Week awaken your Wholeness, now is the time!
